Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is fist pumping over his latest milestone.

The Jersey Shore star recently celebrated a decade of sobriety, sharing a photo of himself alongside his wife Lauren Sorrentino and two of their kids Romeo, 4 and Mia, 2, honoring the occasion.

“I’m 10 years Clean & Sober today & yes we celebrate with funfetti cake,” Mike—who also shares Luna, 21 months, with Lauren—captioned a Dec. 24 picture posted to X. “The comeback is always greater than the setback.”

In 2012, the MTV star entered a rehab facility, noting that at the time he had “voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem.” But three years later, after Mike was prescribed painkillers for his cracked ribs, his past struggles had returned, prompting him to embark on his sobriety journey again that year.

“From there it was just a spiral,” he told People in 2017. “Your emotions are blocked. So you really ruin relationships with everyone in your life.”

The following year, Mike noted he was ready to be a “good example” for sober living ahead of the premiere of Jersey Shore Family Vacation.

“This time I’m coming from the standpoint of I’m sober 28 months,” he told E! News in 2018, adding of Lauren, “and I have a longtime girlfriend of over four years now. I had to remain sober, I had to remain loyal despite girls throwing themselves [at me] at the clubs.”

The 43-year-old also wanted to show viewers that “it is possible to have fun and dance in the club without drinking.”

It’s hard to believe Jersey Shore premiered on MTV more than 15 years ago.

And for the last 10 years, one of its stars has stayed sober, now taking to social media to mark the significant milestone and how it has positively impacted his life.

“Ten years ago, I made a decision that changed everything. A decision to stop running, stop numbing, and finally face my life head-on,” Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino wrote in the caption of his Instagram poston Christmas Eve (Wednesday, Dec. 24). “It wasn’t easy. There were moments I doubted myself, moments I felt broken beyond repair. But one day at a time, I chose recovery, and those days added up.”

The reality star, 43, continued, “Sobriety gave me my life back. It gave me clarity, purpose, faith, family, and a mission bigger than myself. It gave me the ability to turn my darkest chapters into a platform of hope for others who are still struggling.”

Sorrentino goes on to say that he celebrates the milestone “with gratitude, for my support system, my wife and family, my team, and everyone who believed in me when I couldn’t believe in myself. And I celebrate it by continuing the work, founding the Archangel Centers, and helping others see that recovery is possible and worth fighting for.”

The TV star has had a big year already, with the success of the MTV series Jersey Shore: Family Vacation and partnering with Bang Cookies, in addition to opening the Archangel Centers Rehab. And in 2026, Sorrentino will bring his family’s recipes to fans in a new cookbook.

“These long days in the kitchen mean everything to me,” Sorrentino shared on Instagram Dec. 19. “Cooking side by side with my mom, @lindaleesorrentino leading and bringing our family recipes to life for our cookbook has been incredibly special.”

His post’s caption continues, “Huge thanks to @executive_chef_mike_ for his expertise, bringing dishes from recipe to the page, and keeping the heart of our traditions intact. Can’t wait for you all to see what we’ve created.”

“2026 is a year of growth, gratitude and purpose. I’m committed to expanding the Archangel [treatment] Centers, continuing to spread my message of experience, strength and hope to the masses and showing up every day as the best father and husband I can be to my beautiful wife and children. Recovery changed my life and in 2026, I’ll keep paying it forward, one day at a time.”

“My New Year’s resolution is to get in ‘clothing shape.’ Which means I want my clothes to fit me the way they fit me when I bought them in the store. I want to put on a shirt without stretching it like I’m making a pizza out of it. I want to catch my reflection in a car window and feel good about it. I don’t want to think I must’ve been stung by a bee and didn’t feel it. I want to raise my arms confidently and without fear of someone asking if ‘crop tops are in.’ Hopefully this Ozempic works like people say it does.”

‘90s Heavy Metal Icon Marks Seven Years Sober: ‘Recovery is Possible’

Lamb of God member Mark Morton celebrated a major personal milestone with a heartwarming reflection.

The guitarist is known for his high-octane performances and complex riffs, along with the powerful vocals of frontman Randy Blythe, making it easy to assume that the heavy metal group embodies the full rock star lifestyle.

However, Morton later experienced a profound shift in perspective, embracing a sober life defined by clarity, resilience, growth and a renewed sense of purpose.

As he celebrates sobriety, he delivered a touching message not only to his fans but also as a reminder that nothing is impossible.

In an Instagram update, the 53-year-old commemorates a special achievement of living drug- and alcohol-free for seven years. Moreover, he also shared how recovery unfolded slowly, “one day at a time.”

“This morning I woke up 7 years clean & sober. I genuinely owe my life to the addicts & alcoholics in recovery who taught me how to free from addiction…one day at a time. I’ve been asked….Why still focus on it? Why count time? Why not just be sober and move on? Fair questions…Here’s why…” he wrote.

According to him, the loss of loved ones to drugs and alcohol became a deeply personal wake-up call.

“Right now, there are countless people out there who have lost all hope that they can live a life without drugs or alcohol. I know this to be true because I was one of them. So when I talk about getting sober, it’s never to solicit ‘congratulations’ or to suggest that anyone else should. It’s so that one person might hear that recovery IS possible for all who seek it,” he added.

Lastly, he hopes his story will spark hope in those who are struggling like him before and also offer encouragement that choosing sobriety is ultimately rewarding and life-changing.

“Someone out there right now needs to hear that message & I hope they do. I was that person.

If I can do it, you can too…I promise it’s worth it,” he said.

The touching post drew attention from fans who congratulated him on his continued journey.

“Each day sober is an accomplishment and 7 years of that is wonderful. Congrats! Thank you for being vulnerable enough to share this. You never know who needs to hear/see/read if,” a follower said.

“Doing the work and living the truth of it all is what it’s all about. One day at a time,” another added.

Fellow musicians like Gary Holt of Exodus expressed admiration, noting, “Congratulations brother! And yes, I still count and do a daily affirmation. Whatever works.”

The same goes for former Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich, who echoed, “That’s such a great post, man:) God Bless Mark.”

Morton’s sobriety was also reflected in his book Desolation: A Heavy Metal Memoir, where he credited Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash for helping him on his journey and making “sobriety look cool.”
