2025 Tesla Model 3 SHOCKS Everyone – amazing New Features & Upgrades, Tesla model 3 price, Tesla

Future Tesla cars: Launches expected between 2025 & 2028

Update: ‘Tesla Cybercab’ and ‘Tesla Roadster’ updated and ‘New Tesla Semi’ added.

Tesla is synonymous with electric cars, a reputation that has undoubtedly helped it gain about 8 million buyers. Now, let’s take a look at the future Tesla cars that are expected to be launched in the U.S. in the next three years. Note that the article is a compilation of information from various sources (official and unofficial), and the timelines are speculative.

Tesla Model Y Standard (2025)

Tesla has just added a new Standard Rear-Wheel Drive variant to the Model Y lineup, priced at USD 39,990. It offers an EPA-estimated 321 miles of range and a 0-60 mph time of 6.8 seconds.

It targets value buyers by retaining core Tesla features such as Autosteer, Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, and the 15.4-inch central display while leaving out equipment and features from the Premium trims.

The Standard RWD lacks a panoramic glass roof, adaptive headlamps, power-folding mirrors, ventilated front seats, second-row AC vents, ambient lighting, and the 15-speaker audio system.

Range, charging capability, and ride refinement are also a step lower due to passive shocks and smaller wheels. The result is a more accessible Model Y that preserves Tesla’s core tech but skimps on performance and comfort for a lower starting price.

Tesla Model 3 Standard (2025)

The Model 3 Standard Rear-Wheel Drive has just become Tesla’s most affordable vehicle at USD 36,990. It delivers an EPA-estimated 321 miles of range and 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds.

Like the Model Y Standard, it carries over Tesla’s hardware suite and 15.4-inch touchscreen while leaving out comfort and convenience features seen in the Premium trims. The Standard version drops the 8-inch rear display, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, second-row AC, power-adjustable steering wheel, HEPA filtration, and 15-speaker audio system.

Manual mirrors, passive shocks, and smaller 18-inch wheels further reduce costs. Buyers receive Tesla’s same driver-assist suite and connectivity hardware, but performance and refinement have been lowered.

During an earnings call earlier in 2025, Lars Moravy, Tesla’s VP of vehicle engineering, cited capacity utilization and lower monthly payments to make the cars more affordable as important reasons for the new launches.

Refreshed Model Y Performance (2025)

The refreshed Model Y Performance, which has reached buyers in Europe, will be with U.S. customers in December. It stands out with new bumpers, a carbon fiber rear spoiler, 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels, and red brake calipers.

Tesla has added adaptive damping and selectable drive modes for sharper handling. Inside, the new Performance trim gains sport seats with ventilation and a thigh extender, plus a 16-inch ultra HD center touchscreen.

It accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than the older Model Y Performance. Top speed continues to be limited at 155 mph, but the EPA-estimated range is now 306 miles, an improvement of 29 miles.

Refreshed Model Y 7 Seater (2025)

The refreshed seven-seat configuration, as before, will provide more flexibility, catering to families needing added capacity. It should carry the updated fascias, lighting, powertrain, and other features that were introduced for the Model Y ‘Juniper’ earlier this year.

Tesla Model Y L (2025)

Tesla has launched a six-seat version of the Model Y for China called the Model Y L, and going by local reports, it has gathered about 100,000 registrations within the first two weeks. Its wheelbase is 150 mm (5.9 in) longer, and the overall length has grown 179 mm (7 in), offering more space and a larger central touchscreen.

It introduces a six-seat layout with comfortable individual chairs for the first two rows. Height is slightly increased as well to aid ingress and egress for rear passengers.

This variant of the Model Y doesn’t start production in the US until the end of next year. Might not ever, given the advent of self-driving in America.Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s reply on X when asked about the 6-seat Model Y’s U.S. release plans

Reports indicate the long-wheelbase Model Y uses LG Energy Solution’s new 5M battery pack with 84.7 kWh capacity. It uses slightly more powerful dual motors, which give it a 0-62 mph time of 4.5 seconds.

The Model Y L sports visual changes like a redesigned C-pillar, ducktail spoiler, unique gold paint, and special wheels. It has a CLTC range of 467 miles, and there’s a slim chance that it may enter production in the U.S. in Q4 2026.

Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD (2025)

An exclusive Model 3 variant has also been launched in China. The range-focused version, as per the MIIT declaration chart, retains a RWD layout but uses a more expensive 78.4 kWh LG NMC battery instead of the standard CATL LFP pack, and a new 302 hp motor, giving it a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 5.2 seconds.

Thanks to its lower energy consumption and higher battery capacity, the Model 3 long-range RWD delivers a staggering range of 830 km (516 miles) in the CLTC measurement. The Model 3 LR AWD, which has no styling differences, is positioned between the current RWD and Long Range trims, and is priced at RMB 259,500 (USD 36,335).

Tesla Cybercab (2026)

The Tesla Cybercab, earlier referred to as the Tesla Robotaxi, is engineered purely for autonomous use. It’s a two-seater EV with dihedral doors, no pedals or steering wheel, and a cabin stripped down for simplicity. It has a big trunk behind the seats, accessible through a large liftgate.

Inside, the exclusion of a steering wheel, accelerator and brake pedals frees up a lot of space around the dashboard. There are only two seats, both noticeably wide and reminiscent of old American recliners. A huge freestanding touchscreen is the centerpiece of this cozy interior, integrating all the core comfort and entertainment functions.

The car sacrifices top-end speed and heavy acceleration in favor of energy efficiency, smaller brakes, and gentler handling. These trade-offs allow for the use of more efficient tires and result in very low operating costs, potentially as low as 25–30 cents per mile.

While Tesla intends to release the Cybercab as originally planned, without any option for manual driving, regulations may compel it to reverse its stance. Robyn Denholm, the Chairperson of the company’s Board of Directors, recently told Bloomberg News that it will add a steering wheel and pedals if regulations hold it back from executing the original plan.

Denholm added that the Cybercab is the same car the media initially reported as the Model 2. The potential addition of manual driving capability would turn it into the accessible, conventional Tesla many buyers had long envisioned. Tesla plans to start production in April 2026, but it may have to postpone this timeline if such major reengineering is required.

New Tesla Semi (2026)

Nearly eight years since its debut in December 2017, and unusually without yet having entered series production, the Tesla Semi has received a facelift. Like the Model 3 and Model Y, the all-electric class 8 heavy-duty truck has evolved from a friendly and emotive design to a more focused, assertive one.

The front of the new Tesla Semi features more angular surfaces and car-like slim headlights, connected similarly via a light band. The more aggressive styling is inspired by the Cybertruck, Cybercab and the new Model Y.

The bumper is also new and carries sharper lines to align with the new family design. On the sides, Tesla has added rear-facing cameras behind the front wheel arches, on the same longitudinal axis as the upper part of the door handles.

The new Tesla Semi’s powertrain will pack 1,072 horsepower and cover a distance of 500 miles, consuming 1.7 kWh/mi. Its battery pack, expected to have an energy storage capacity of about 850 kWh, will support charging at up to 1.2 MW (1,200 kW). Tesla expects to commence volume production of the new Semi in the second half of 2026.

Tesla Roadster (2027)

On the Ride The Lightning Podcast that took place on March 5, 2025, Franz von Holzhausen described the next-gen Roadster as “a technology showcase,” adding, “It always was and will continue to be.”

Tesla’s design chief suggested the Roadster’s design would evolve further, stating, “Design evolves over time as well…a little evolution is not a bad thing,” hinting that its final look would differ from the 2017 prototype to stay “fresh and new in the marketplace.” And at the 2025 annual shareholder meeting on November 6, Musk said that the next-gen Roadster “will be very different” from what Tesla previously showed.

The Roadster may arrive with well over 1,020 hp and 1,050 lb.-ft. It’s also expected to have a top speed north of 250 mph, and a dedicated platform with all-wheel drive.

During Tesla’s Q3 2024 earnings conference call on October 23, 2024, Musk suggested the redesigned model will have the ability to briefly lift itself off the ground and hover, reiterating his previous hints of SpaceX-derived technologies for the car.

At the X Takeover in July 2025, Lars Moravy said Tesla had spent years rethinking the Roadster to create “the last best driver’s car,” teasing new tech shown to Elon Musk that left him “a little excited.” At the 2025 annual shareholder meeting, Musk said the company tentatively plans to unveil the next-gen Roadster on April 1, 2026, and start production a year or so after that (mid-2027).

Tesla Robovan/Robus (2028)

The Tesla Robovan, which is expected to be called the Tesla Robus, is a much bigger self-driving EV, designed for traveling in a big group of people or transporting a large load of goods. Inspired by art deco trains of the 1920s and 30s, the streamlined EV’s design looks like it was pulled straight out of a science fiction movie. It features sliding doors on the sides and has a trunk at both ends.

The Tesla Robus’s travel cost is officially estimated at 5–10 cents per mile, making it as one of the most affordable forms of transportation. Image Source: Tesla

The interior of the Robovan feels like a modern living space, featuring a clean and space-focused design. Softly lit mood lighting throughout the cabin creates a luxurious vibe and highlights the modern design of the cabin.

Seats with upward-sloping lower sections for better thigh support and the entirely flat floor contribute to the living-room-like vibe of the interior. There are two large, TV-sized screens at both ends, which would provide passengers with entertainment on the go.

Tesla says the passenger version of the Robovan can accommodate up to 20 people and estimates its travel cost to be as low as 5–10 cents per mile. The company has yet to reveal the launch timeline of this model, but we expect 2028 to be the earliest possible year.
