In pictures: Flats ablaze after Russian drone strikes
At least seven people were injured after Russian drone strikes on an apartment block in the Sumy region of Ukraine overnight (see 07.25 post).
Images coming through this morning from the Ukrainian emergency services show the aftermath of the attack.
Balconies are on fire at the block of flats in Okhtyrka as firefighters scramble to contain the blaze inside.

Senior Ukrainian official ‘absolutely certain’ Zelenskyy has read US peace proposal
As we’ve been reporting, Donald Trump has publicly cast doubt on whether Volodymyr Zelenskyy has read the revised US peace proposal (see previous post).
But the chair of Ukraine’s foreign affairs committee has told Sky News he thinks the opposite is true.
Appearing on Mornings With Ridge And Frost, Oleksandr Merezhko says he is “surprised to say the least” by the US president’s claims because he knows Zelenskyy is “very careful”.
“He reads all the documents, especially such [a] crucial, important document as this peace proposal by President Trump, and I’m absolutely certain that he has acquainted himself with this plan [and] has read it,” he says.

Trump ‘a bit disappointed’ Zelenskyy has not read peace proposal
Donald Trump was speaking to reporters last night about the ongoing Ukraine peace talks.
He said he believed Volodymyr Zelenskyy “isn’t ready” to sign the revised US peace proposal.
“I’m a little bit disappointed that President Zelenskyy hasn’t yet read the proposal, that was as of a few hours ago. His people love it, but he hasn’t,” he said.
“Russia is, I believe, fine with it, but I’m not sure that Zelenskyy’s fine with it. His people love it. But he isn’t ready.”
This morning, Kyiv’s lead negotiator Rustem Umerov said Zelenskyy would receive all documents related to the revised peace plan today.
Ukraine’s president would also be briefed about his team’s dialogue with US officials over the weekend, where their main aim was to receive full information on the US talks in Moscow last week, Umerov said on Telegram.

Seven injured after Russian drone strikes on apartment block
At least seven people have been injured after Russian drone strikes in the northeast Sumy region of Ukraine overnight.
Two people were taken to hospital while the other victims were treated and discharged after the attack on a multistorey apartment block in the city of Okhtyrka, which is around 32 miles (52km) from the Russian border, regional governor Oleh Hryhorov said on Telegram.
Some residents reached cover from the strikes in the building’s basement while emergency crews rescued others from upper floors.
The governor added the building was left with extensive damage.

Zelenskyy says talks with Trump’s team ‘constructive’ but ‘not easy’
Volodymyr Zelenskyy provided an update on US talks in his overnight address late last night ahead of meeting European leaders in London today.
He said Ukrainian representatives had held “substantive” talks with Donald Trump’s representatives over the past few days.
Ukraine’s secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, Rustem Umerov, and its chief of general staff Andriy Gnatov were on their way to Europe for further talks, Zelenskyy said.

“I expect from them detailed information about everything, everything that was said to American representatives in Moscow, about the nuances that the Americans are ready to modify in negotiations with us, with the Russians,” he said.
Zelenskyy thanked US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner for their willingness to work together after peace talks on Saturday.
“American representatives know the basic Ukrainian positions, it was a constructive, albeit not easy, conversation,” he added.
